Human Movement Sciences: Sport, Exercise & Health

General requirements

The general requirements for admission to the (pre)Master's programme Human Movement Sciences are:

  • A relevant bachelor's degree, including a bachelor thesis or equivalent of a bachelor thesis
  • Physics must have been part of your VWO or HAVO exam
  • Knowledge of Anatomy, Physiology and Psychology on the level of "Introductory textbooks".

Although provable knowledge of mathematics (Wiskunde B) is not required for admission, it is expected that you have enough basic knowledge of mathematics. If you have any doubts about your level of knowledge, please try the Mathematics Pretest (in Dutch). If your knowledge turns out to be insufficient, it is strongly advised to get some additional education before starting the master's programme.

Students with a Bachelor’s degree in Human Movement Sciences (either from VU University or the RUG) or Health SciencStudents with a Bachelor’s degree in Human Movement Sciences (either from VU University or RUG) or Health Sciences with a major in Human Movement Sciences (UM) or Medical Sciences with a major Human Movement Sciences (Radboud University) will be given direct access to the Master’s programme, provided that the student has made a rough personal planning for the Master’s Programme that has been approved by the Examination Board.

Students with a different Bachelor’s degree, from either a university or an institute of higher vocational education (hbo), will usually have to take a premaster’s programme.

Application

The admission board of the Faculty of Human Movement Sciences will decide if a candidate can be admitted to the Master's programme. They will base their decision on the following criteria:
  • The candidate has met the general requirements
  • Sufficient knowledge of the English language (6 VWO/5 HAVO- level or an IELTS-score of at least 6.5);
  • Level at which the bachelor's programme was completed, based on grades
  • For HBO-bachelors: the results of the HBO-assessment. If a science minor from 'Bewegingstechnologie' (HHS) or the 'AMPO' (HVA) was part of your bachelor's programme, an assessment is not required.
  • An interview with the admission board
