Programmes in Human Movement Sciences

Human Movement Sciences is a field of study focusing on the systematic and scientific study of human movement, both normal and pathological, and factors related to the analysis, improvement and recovery of human movement. Emphasis is therefore on both typical and atypical movement and conditions under which these movements are performed.

To study movement, one needs a strongly multi-disciplinary approach, utilizing knowledge from fields such as psychology, physiology, functional anatomy, neurosciences and engineering. Research questions focus on understanding how human movement is regulated, how it is related to the structure of the human body, how movements are learned, and how processes such as recovery, learning and aging are influenced by mechanical as well as social and environmental factors.

The Faculty of Human Movement Sciences offers three programmes:

  • Bachelor's programme
    Human Movement Sciences (3 years)
  • Master's programme
Human Movement Sciences: Sport, Exercise & Health (1 year)
  • Research Master's programme
